A custom domain makes short links part of your brand, for example go.example.com/sale. You can use an Umela system domain without any additional setup.
Connect a domain
- Open Domains and select Create domain.
- Enter the domain name without a page path.
- Optionally choose where visitors should go from the domain root and from an unknown link ending.
- Save the domain and add both records shown for your DNS provider: the TXT record verifies ownership, while the A or CNAME record routes traffic to Umela.
- Wait for the verified status.
Important. Do not publish short links on a custom domain until it is verified. Domain setting updates can take some time.
The root URL opens when someone visits the domain without a link ending. The not-found URL handles endings that do not exist. Point both to useful pages on your website.
Before deleting a domain, make sure it is not used in published materials. Short addresses that depend on it will stop working.
