A link preview is the card that messaging apps, social networks, and other services can show when someone shares your short link. With Umela Premium, you can give each link its own title, description, and image instead of relying on the destination page.
Plan requirement. Custom link previews are available on the Premium plan.
Add a preview
- Create a link or open an existing link for editing.
- Open Advanced settings.
- Select Link preview.
- Add a title, description, image, or any combination of the three.
- Select Save preview, then save the link.
The title can contain up to 120 characters and the description up to 240 characters.
Add an image
You can upload an image from your device or select the link icon to enter a public http or https image URL.
Uploaded images are center-cropped to 1200 × 630 pixels and converted to JPEG in your browser before upload. Keep important text and logos near the center so they are not cut off. A 1.91:1 landscape image works best.
Check the result
After saving, share the short URL rather than the destination URL. Services that support Open Graph or X card metadata can use your custom preview and then send visitors to the normal destination.
Some services cache previews. If you update a preview but still see the old version, wait for that service to refresh its cache or use its link-debugging tool when one is available. The exact layout and the fields displayed are controlled by the service where the link is shared.
Change or remove a preview
Edit the link and open Link preview to replace its content. To remove all custom preview metadata, select the remove button beside Link preview, then save the link.
Do not use an image, title, or description that misrepresents the destination. Preview content remains subject to the Acceptable Use Policy.
